CBCC refurbishment

The Community Based Child-Care Centre at Nsungwi has been refurbished. I am so grateful to SAFE's staff who have been there on the ground to oversee the work.

Martin is at Zomba Catholic Secondary School. While the schools are in lockdown he is keeping busy reading and also helping his guardian in the fields.
He is so grateful for SAFE-UK's support. His relatives were enormously grateful for the soap donated to the gogos. They are practicing physical distancing that SAFE worker…
Coronavirus in Malawi

The Gogos of Kachere CBO (Community Based Organisation) are sitting 1m apart listening to SAFE's Community Supervisor, Brenda Lisimba, relaying the important information about Covid-19. After this each Gogo received a box of 30 tablets of soap for handwashing.
Nsungwi CBCC

In spite of COVID-19, there is much necessary maintenance work going on at Nsungwi Community Based Child Care Centre. The pavement above is being repaired and the old floor has been scrapped in one of the rooms. In addition the kitchen floor is undergoing rehabilitation work.

The Children at Kapitikusya Community Based Child-Care Centre are queuing in line waiting to wash their hands before they have their mid-morning porridge. At the moment there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in Malawi.
More maize needed

In the red bucket is the last bit of flour to make the porridge for the children at the CBCC's and in the white bag is the remaining maize which was bought by Kachere's Community Based Organisation. At last year's harvest the gogos were able to donate 6 bags of maize to the feeding programme which wasn't sufficient…
3 year olds at CBCC

Alinafe Sande is one of the caregivers at Kapitikusya's Community Based Child-Care Centre. Here she is teaching the 3 year olds the colour green with some leaves from the maize that is growing in the gardens. Alinafe had triplets last year. Kapitikusya has 107 children registered (57 boys and 50 girls) and 85 children…
Gogos bible study

The gogos ( grandparents) at Nsungwi CBCC (Community Based Child-care Centre) meet regularly for mutual encouragement prayer and bible study. This week they were using the Talking Bible and meditating on 'Look, Listen and Live' based on the book of Genesis.
